Sports quota reservation
Shri Harbhajan Singh expressed worries about the sports quota in government jobs at a recent Rajya Sabha session. The government’s present policy allows for a 5% sports quota reservation for deserving athletes in Group ‘C’ posts, but no clear information or action plan was offered regarding how to quickly fill these vacancies. Furthering the promotion of sports, there was also no sign that the government planned to raise the percentage of sportspeople employed there.
