The Compassionate Appointment Scheme is a benefit service that helps families of government employees who have died while on the service period. Both the Central and State Governments may use this Compassionate Appointment Scheme. The Central Civil Services (Compassionate Appointment) Regulations, 1996, which are part of the Central Government, are used to implement the programme.
A family member of a deceased government employee may apply for a compassionate appointment within five years after the person’s passing under the Central Civil Services (Compassionate Appointment) Rules, 1996. The family member must fit certain qualifying requirements, such as being the employee’s spouse, son, daughter, or dependent relative. The family member’s qualifications and experience are taken into consideration, together with the availability of a suitable opening. The program’s goal is to give the surviving family members of dead government employees stability and assistance during their difficult period.
Modification in Relative Merit Points System
According to office letter No. 17- I/2022-SPG-II from the Department of Posts dated 23.03.2022, a modified version of the relative merit points system and selection process for compassionate appointments has been announced. As mentioned in Variables No. (iii) and (iv) of RMPS, the delay in processing compassionate appointment cases has been seen in acquiring immovable property valuation reports and income certifications from Revenue authorities.
Changes have been made to the Notes under RMPS Variables Nos. (iii) and (iv) in order to streamline the procedure and avoid delays. The standards for proving monthly income and movable and immovable property have been streamlined; SDI’s verification of an affidavit is now adequate in place of having to present paperwork from other authorities.
